We offer you various trips on the Sognefjord. We got a daily roundtrip (the Balestrand fjord sighteeing) and regulare trips to Nærøyfjorden. If you like, we are happy to do private trips on request to other destinations along the fjord.
These trips are suitable for people of all ages. Safety instructions will be given before the trip starts. You will also be given goggles, life west and suits with floating element that also keep you dry and warm.
We will also do our best to customize the trips to each individuals wishes about speed, route and stops on the way.
You are of course welcome to bring your camera on the trips. Meeting point for all of the trips is at the tourist information close to the harbor in Balestrand.
Balestrand fjord sightseeing
The tour starts at the touristinformation in Balestrand. The first stop is Esebottn. This is one of the most painted views in Europe.
We are heading for the mighty Kvinafossen, a waterfall that falls 120 meters straight down. We take a stop here to enjoy the sights and to take spectacular photograps.
From here we will cross the fjord to Vangsnes with a great view of the Fridtjov statue and then towards to the island of Kvamsøy. This is a small island on a shallow bay -it is said that it was common to stop here to wait for the weather to change. It was also a trading post. The island is also thought to be the smallest in the world with a church.
On the return we will follow the shoreline towards Balestrand and see the dragon and Swiss style villas ,which is Balestrand is known for, from the sea side before returning to Balestrand harbour.

We offer daily trips to the famous Nærøyfjord from May 2.nd.
The trip will take approx. 2, 5 hours in total.
The Nærøyfjord is probably one of the most famous fjords in Norway. The trip towards the Nærøyfjord starts in Balestrand situated along the wide Sognefjord. When we travel up the fjord the steep mountains come closer to the fjord shores and when we enter the fjord you will probably understand why it is called the most narrow fjord in the world. Cascading waterfalls, lush green dots of farmland around the shores gives you a feeling that you are surrounded by magnificent nature. We will explore the fjord and usually we will meet wildlife on our way like, eagles, dolphins, otters, and seals. But no guarantee is made…It’s nature after all.

The Fairy tale roundtrip (Ortnevik)
Season: 30.april – 3.september.
Departure Mondays at 08:45 from the Tourist info office in Balestrand and 09:30 from Høyanger.
Departing from Høyanger, bring warm clothes for changing if it rains.
From Balestrand, we go west on the Sognefjord towards Høyanger. On the way we pass the small villages along the fjord with culture and industry. Some of them are even roadless
When we arrive Høyanger, a green-industy village, we stop and take on board more passangers. From here we cross the deepest part of the fjord before arriving in Ortnevik. This is a village of just 25 inhabitants. We will have a look at the largest land based halibut fishfarm in the world, and they produce 600 ton food fish every year, sold under the name Glitne.
We will visit a park of wood art based on viking culture, including what is probably the smallest stavechurch in the world. The park is located on a artists farm, and we will be guided by him. Before returning to Balestrand, we have a short stop on the beautiful and narrow fjord; Finnabottn, surronded by steep mountains that plunges straight into the fjord. Return to Balestrand.
Busdrive back to Høyanger included in the price.
